Itinerary
Day 1 (Arrival at Nha Trang, Cultural Insights to the City) (-, L, D)
  • Arrive at the beautiful city of Nha Trang to begin yourexploration of Southern Vietnam. A vehicle will pick you up from the Cam Ranh International Airport and take you toyour hotel. After a delicious Vietnamese or continental lunch, go out to explore the beautiful city by the sea, famous for its rich history and cultural attractions.
  • Visit the awe-inspiring Oceanographic Institute; explore the magnificent Long Son Pagoda, a witness to the country’s struggle against imperial forces and the civil war.
  • Visit Mount Cu Lao to view the intricate decorations of the Po Nagar Temples dedicated to the goddess Yan Po Nagar – classic examples of Cham architecture. You will enjoy the breath-taking view of the countryside from the top.
  • Conclude your tour for the day with a visit to the local market and a rice paper factory to learn about small-scale local industries.
Day 2 (Cycle and Rickshaw Tour Around the City) (B, L, D)
  • Experience the city as intimately as a local would, by taking a tour along the city lanes on a bicycle! Traveling through the streets and the countryside will give you an entirely new perspective on the daily lives of Vietnamese people. Begin your tour by visiting the Dien Khanh citadel by van. One of the oldest citadels in South Vietnam, the Dien Khanh was built by the French officer Olivier de Puymanel in 1793. 
  • Go on to explore the charming bucolic scene of Southern Vietnam by cycling through the lanes of the Dien Binh villages.
  • Savour a slice of the countryside tranquillity as you stop at orchards, local markets, and visit some of the homes of the local people. Enjoy your lunch at a Memento country home where you will be served authentic Vietnamese specialities like Banh Xeo or pancakes and spring rolls.
  • You can choose your ideal way of concluding this fascinating day tour – go fishing, get a relaxing massage, or observe at leisure the lives of the local people in the villages. 
  • Once you are back to the city, you will be taken around the famous beachfront of Nha Trang, and then to the city centre.
  • The relaxing ride on the cycle rickshaw (popularly known as ‘cyclos’) will unveil different facets of this beautiful city to you. You will visit some of the historical landmarks of the city, as well as the hustle and bustle of the streets in the modern part of the town. Your driver will direct you to the vibrant Dam Market, and will also show yousome silk and handicraft shops where you can shop to your heart’s content and also interact with local tailors.
  • Do not forget to try some delicious local Vietnamese street food on your tour!
Day 3 (Cruise on the Cai Be River) (B, L, D)
  • Your Southern Vietnam experience cannot be complete without a few tours on the beautiful rivers that will give you a glimpse of the Vietnamese village life on the riverside.
  • On this leisurely cruise on the Cai River, you will view the life in the settlements along the river banks of Nha Trang. Your tour will begin from the Po Nagar Cham Towers, from where you will board the boat for your cruise.
  • On this cruise, you will visit some local handicraft workshops to get a glimpse of Vietnamese cottage industry. You will return to your hotel for lunch.
  • Spend the rest of the day at leisure, or explore the city further by walking around the neighbourhood.
Day 4 (Cruise to Tri Nguyen Aquarium, Mun, Tam, and Mieu Islands) (B, L, D)
  • Situated in the south of the Nha Trang Bay, Mun Island is Vietnam’s only marine park. Get ready to view the flourishing underwater life of Vietnam as you first stop at the Tri Nguyen Aquarium, which looks like a sailing ship from a distance. Built in 1971, the aquarium is home to hundreds of rare marine species. This semi-natural lake is created by blocking a part of the sea and building a stone embankment.
  • Enjoy a unique experience as you walk around the lake and observe the fishes, crustaceans, sharks, and other exotic marine animals.
  • Your marine adventure continues in Mun Island, where you will get a rare chance to snorkel and observe Southern Vietnam’s marine life up close.
  • Swim and sunbathe in the beach of the hauntingly beautiful island of high cliffs and grottos of dark stone.
  • Your next stop, Tam Island is quite different from Mun Island, although equally beautiful with its sparkling white sandy beaches and greenery.
  • Experience another exciting and unique feature of Vietnamese water tour by travelling to your next destination by one of those quaint local basket boats you have frequently seen in pictures of Vietnam! Visit the Con Se Tre Resort to have a delicious lunch of seafood.
  • Finally, visit a fishing village in Mieu and observe the lives of local fishers before returning to Nha Trang.
Day 5 (Nha Trang City Tour on Vespa, Arrival at Dalat) (B, L, D)
  • Enjoy your final day at Nha Trang by ‘going local’ on the back of a Vespa – the quintessential vehicle for commuting in Vietnam. You will experience the city only as a resident of Nha Trang could as you take a tour of the local villages on the scooter (but if you are feeling a bit more luxurious today, don’t worry, we have an air-conditioned van ready for you in that case)! The surrounding villages of Nha Trang are only a few kilometres away from the city; all pictures of bucolic tranquillity and home to Vietnamese traditions.
  • Learn about the olden customs of dress, food and trading as you interact with the local people with the help of your guide.
  • Visit the artisan workshops to observe their craftsmanship in making rush mats, incense sticks and conical bamboo hats. Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Return to your hotel to rest for a while before leaving for the picturesque hill city of Dalat to continue your exploration of the beauties of Southern Vietnam.In caseyou reach early, you can take a quick walk around the neighbourhood for a general feel of the city, or enjoy a variety of services (like a swim, or a relaxing massage) at your hotel before dinner is served.
Day 6 (Dalat City Tour) (B, L, D)
  • This city is perfect for tourists for its optimal weather conditions, beautiful hills covered with pine-forests and scenic valleys, stunning lakes, French villas from the imperial era, and ancient pagodas and monasteries. Famed as the ‘City of Eternal Springs’, Dalat is also known for its many festivals that take place all the year round. After breakfast, take a tour around the picturesque city and explore its various landmarks.
  • Start your tour with a visit to the local market which is always vibrant and teeming with buyers and sellers, bargaining over fresh produce. Go on to explore the beautiful summer palace of Emperor Bao Dai, the last king of Vietnam. The palace is built in the colonial style and has 25 rooms that preserve the household items. 
  • Do not miss visiting the Hang Nga guesthouse with its peculiar exterior that has earned for itself the name ‘Crazy House’. Designed by the famed architect Madam Viet Nga, the house is representative of the Expressionist art form. The house resembles a tree and is adorned by structures that represent different natural elements like caves, mushrooms, spider webs and the like.
  • Have lunch at a local restaurant, and conclude your tour with a visit to the Golden Valley, a renowned eco-tourist spot in Dalat. Enjoy a refreshing walk along the rows of pine trees, stroll over grassy hills, and admire the rare flowers and Bonsais.
  • You can spend the evening by exploring the local markets of Dalat, and do some essential shopping before returning to your hotel for dinner.
Day 7 (Farm Excursion, Arrival at Ho Chi Minh City) (B, L, D)
  • Explore the life of the countryside that surrounds the beautiful city of Dalat today. The magnificent Elephant Falls will surely take your breath away. Named after a rock that looks like an elephant’s head, the Elephant Falls are famed to be one of the most beautiful cascades in this part of Vietnam. Although the fall is quite steep, if you are feeling adventurous, you can reach the bottom by walking down a somewhat slippery set of stone steps.
  • After viewing the falls, visit a local coffee plantation and pass by several vegetable farms. You will also come across a quaint cricket farm, a silkworm factory, and a rice wine processing plant – all these will provide you fascinating insights to the local Vietnamese livelihoods. 
  • Visit the Buon Chuoi village, home to the K’Ho tribe, an ethnic minority group. You can also interact with the friendly K’Ho people with the help of your guide.
  • You will also have the opportunity to learn about Gong culture in a few UNESCO-declared World Heritage Site villages. Observe and learn from the unique lifestyles of these ethnic groups by walking around the villages and interacting with the residents. Enjoy an authentic local lunch at one of these villages before returning to your hotel.
  • In the afternoon, leave for Ho Chi Minh City, the final stop to your experience of Southern Vietnam.
  • Check into your hotel in the city and call it a night after an early dinner; your Saigon adventure will begin the following day!
Day 8 (Ho Chi Minh City Tour) (B, L, D)
  • Ho Chi Minh City is the economic capital of Southern Vietnam. It is also replete with the history of Vietnam’s political struggles and warfare. Even in the olden days, Saigon (as Ho Chi Minh City was formerly known) was the much beloved ‘Pearl of the Far East’. It served as one of the chief trading centres for China, Japan, and even parts of the West. Explore the city where tradition and modernity happily exist side by side.
  • Take a tour through the busy streets of Cholon or Ho Chi Minh’s Chinese quarters. Discover the ThienHau Pagoda, which is a nineteenth-century Chinese temple dedicated to the worship of Goddess Mazu. Admire the traditional Chinese-styled architecture of the pagoda,the porcelain figurines on the roof depicting religious themes, the lanterns, and the wooden models of theatres at the entrance. Walk around the bustling and vibrant Ben Thanh Market and take a look at the local produce.
  • Visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, a stunning building that was built by the French imperial rulers between 1863 and 1880. The two bell towers are particularly impressive.
  • Visit the former Presidential Palace, significant for its role in the historical fall of Saigon in 1975. The War Remnants Museum will give you further insights into Vietnam’s turbulent history. 
  • After a scrumptious lunch at a local café, continue to explore the city in a cycle-rickshaw (‘cyclo’) ride.
  • Spend the rest of the evening in any way you like!
Day 9 (River Cruise from Cai Be to Mekong Lodge) (B, L, D)
  • Embark on a two-day river cruise to experience the beauty of the Mekong Delta – one of the chief attractions of Southern Vietnam. Your pick-up vehicle will arrive in the morning, and you will take you to the Cai Be Harbour. The world-famous Cai Be floating market will undoubtedly mesmerise you as you will travel along the farmers on boats with their daily produce.
  • You will also explore a handicrafts village along the way and interact with local artisans there.
  • After the Cai Be tour, you will reach the Mekong Lodge on the boat, where you will stay for the night.
  • Enjoy your lunch at the riverside restaurant of the Mekong Lodge. Feast on the delicious local cuisine as you admire the beautiful view of the river.
  • In the afternoon, you will either walk or cycle to visit coco-candy makers and handicraft factories at a neighbouring village. Interact with the craftsmen, and visit the home of a local to try some delicious seasonal fruits.
  • In the evening, learn to make a few authentic Vietnamese dishes at the cooking class of Mekong Lodge. Enjoy the resulting culinary delights for a hearty dinner.
Day 10 (From Mekong Lodge to Ho Chi Minh City) (B, L, D)
  • Have breakfast at Mekong Lodge before you go out on a cycling tour to explore the island. You will come across lovely fruit orchards along the way. Stop to sample some mangoes, rambutans, longans, lychees, or any other seasonal fruits that you may find. After the tour, travel back to Cai Be on the boat, from where you will return to Ho Chi Minh City by car. Stop for lunch on your way at a local restaurant.  Enjoy the rest of your day walking around the city, doing some last minute shopping, or just relaxing at the hotel.
Day 11 (Visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels, Departure) (B, L, -)
  • Conclude your Southern Vietnam experience with a memorable tour of the astonishing Cu Chi Tunnels of Saigon.
  • Start your tour by boarding a speedboat from the local pier. Situated on the northwest side of Ho Chi Minh City, the Cu Chi Tunnels are a complex network of underground tunnels that served in diverse ways during the Vietnam War. The central axis of the tunnels runs for over 200 km; in turn, it connects to narrower tunnels, shelters, and underground hideouts. You are sure to get a vivid idea of the wartime struggles of a Viet Cong soldier as you too try out crawling through this fascinating mesh of tunnels.
  • For lunch, feast on some local Vietnamese dishes at a café for one last time.
  • It is time for you to return to your hotel, from where you will soon leave for the airport to fly back home. Take in the view of the city as you go back, and savour the precious memories you have made over the past ten days in the beautiful cities and countrysides of Southern Vietnam.
